Some red velvet...

Hello! =) Oh my....it's been super-cold here in Vancouver...and it snowed for the last day and some...(it never snows here..)!! eek! Yesterday on my way to work, my shoes had the grip of, say, vaseline, and I was slipping and sliding all the way there...longest walk ever!! lol...it is kind of cool, though..because a new Jennifer Aniston movie is fliming here in town and the crew is set up just a block away...pretty cool...keeps it interesting..=) Not like I've actually seen Jennifer Aniston, just the trucks and lights and trailers..but you know. lol...

Sooo...I got to finally do some things on my list to-do, like this:

...a peeky peeky for you. =) (sorry the file is so teensy...lol) That would the name of the etsy shop..it's coming, I promise!! lol...I'm all about starting things and finishing them the right way (well, at least to my liking) so I'm going all professional with the shop. Not all professional, but I don't want to start selling and have no business card or proper packaging...=) I'm weird that way..lol. It gave me another chance to play with Photoshop, too. yay! Digital is addicting, man. Already Prima hybrid is sending me e-mails about sales..and it's horrible!! I did find this really cool company, Weeds and Wildflowers through Prima, though, and I just love their goodies!

..and, on the weekend I had a chance to finally dig into my Red Velvet December kit and play around with some Christmas pictures...yay!

..mostly pages about my cutie nephew at Christmas...he he... =) Still have lotsa things to do around here...And some old Dozens kits' to finish off...and tonight Z and I are meeting with some film school friends to talk about a project we're starting together....Hope everyone is great and staying warm, wherever you are! And as always, thanks for the cute comments...=) happy day!

"let's get digital, digital..."

...said in sing-songy voice. =) My first digi page ever for the Overlooked challenge numba 1: I used a bunch of freebie things and also some stuff from Prima Hybrid. You can see what I used here...it was pretty fun, I just missed getting ink and paint all over and the whole hands-on aspect of scrapping....(which is mostly why I do it..) but I feel like I leanred a ton and Z was there to help me, too...=) So excited about the new challenge, too...hmm..what do I collect?? I'm pretty sure it may be coats. I have billions. lol...or purses, too...(sigh)
How was everyone's weekend? Mine was pretty chill....rented movies on Friday: "Good Luck Chuck", which was surprisingly funny, and was also filmed in Vancouver (it was so funny to see the pier at Granville Island that's usually covered in people eating hotdogs and hoards of seagulls as the romantic evening-walk setting....ha ha), and "3:10 to Yuma"...a Western. It was pretty awesome; lotsa shooting and also lotsa psychological story..and Russel Crowe and Christian Bale? need I say more...lol...I picked this one:
Cuz I liked their costumes and new I would like it just by the cover...lol...Z just laughed at me, and then within the first 5 minutes, he was like.."how do you know the perfect movies for you??" he he...It's about 2 totally socially awkward dorky people in a relationship of sorts...I laughed the whole time....I love indies. (sigh) And on sunday we walked around the park, fed some swans and watched some cute raccoons, grabbed some coffee, and then putzed around a flea market a block away from home....I love flea markets!! There was some cool stuff, but I didn't buy anything..exceot this book which Z and i both wanted: ...I'm so excited to rip pages out of that baby and scrapbook with em..=) he he. Realized I'm also a sucker for vintage suitcases...oh my. =)

I scrapped a ton yesterday, so those'll be up tommorrow....still have yet to do the blog rounds. Still workin on the etsy header and business cards, and once that's done it'll be ready to go! Still wondering why I give myself so much to do...ha ha....happy day everyone!

Tgif...still. and Lola:

....yay, Friday! I just remembered the coolness of tv on Friday nights when I was like, 12...ha ha. Boy Meets World, Family Matters...(sigh)...lol. I posted some of these goodies on Flickr yesterday, so my apologies if you're seen em and they're old news...lol...But here's some recent stuffs i've made:

Lola! My little whale...(she's kind of like a prototype)....She has beans in her bottom to weigh her down and a cute floppy tail....=) I hand-stitched the embroidery on her mouth and eyes, cuz I'm crazy that way.
...and I did my second day of Holly's art journal challenge, "friend"..and then realized friend wasn't even on my list..ha ha...so I changed the list already, cuz I don't know why "friend"wasn't on there...lol. there was an cool price tag on the vintage trim, so I left it..just a quick simple one page cuz I'm a little (cough) behind on this challenge...
...And then I made a page for the latest One Little Word challenge, cuz I started writing down "still" prompts and couldn't stop...lol. and I know I just used this picture, but seriously, the paper camera fir perfectly, I had to use it! And that rainbow paper has been calling to me for a while..he he...I made the journalling on a notebook-style pad and stapled it onto the layout so I could fit it all. To read and see a few more close-ups, go here.
Hmmm..not much else is new. Work is Supa-busy and very empty because the show is coming to an end and all the animators are finished...just us last-step-in-production guys left. =) Dying to announce some things I've been up to, but I gotta wait!! argh...lol...Happy about Tutli Putli's Oscar nomination...sad about Heath Ledger....wondering what new movies are out..Still wanting to see Juno again...Happy that Z keeps getting cool freelance gigs...still attempting to open the Etsy store...(almost ready!) Loving the CHA peeks that I've seen...specially here at the brand-new Pink Paisley....yum! And also, how sweet is Prima Hybrid?? duuude...I had some birthday money to spend so I treated myself to a few things to play with...there is so much great stuff there, I was excited..for a girl who thought she'd never try digi, whew...I'm gonna do my Overlooked page this weekend all digi, so that should be interesting...he he. Anyways, lunch is oevr..back to work for me...happy day! And, as always, thanks for the sweet comments girlies...=)

oh my word...

...thanks so much for the sweet comments, ladies =) You all rock! I haven't had a chance to visit your blogs in the last few days, but hopefully today there'll be a lull at work and I can make the rounds...=) see what everyone's been making! yay!

As for me..lunch hour is almost over, so a quick post: Made these Betty Boop cards with a cute stamp Z found at a garage sale for me a while back...=) I colored her in with watercolor pencils and stitched the hearts around...they look really Valentines-ish, but really they're just thanks you cards....lol

And I got my Dozens' kit this weekend...had to play...
Also made some stuff I still have to share..and stuff I can't share...tee hee...
Last night Z and I got to go on a date courtesy of birthday money from Mom & Wayne (you guys are the best..thanks!) and we went to see Persepolis .....an animated film for adults. lol...we've been dying to see it and saw it was still playing and finally went...it was awesome: awesome story, awesome animation...awesome. =) I was giggling and almost crying and I loved the designs and everything...super-cool. =)
Also, feeling super-humbled and excited and jittery that I get to continue trying to become a Fashionista...eek! I can't believe all the amazing talent on that list!! Trying to remain calm...the only thing that goes through my mind everytime I get selected for something like this is when I applied to film school, and my admissions advisor asked me if I thought I was a good artist, and when I answered "eer..I dunno...I guess so." She was like, "Great! That means you're probably okay, because chances are if you think you're God's gift to art, you're horrible." lol...weird analogy? Probably...lol..sorry. It just reminds me to not get too excited and to remember why it is I do these things and just keep plugging away and learning and growing in my art no matter what....=) Anyways, that's all for today! Lots to do this week: some deadlines, some drawing, some painting to do, some Etsy-shop-opening-already to do (lol)....should be fun. =) Happy day everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

Wowza....

...I feel like I made so much this weekend I don't know where to begin with the posting of it...lol..it was wonderful..=) The perks of being also married to a workaholic (okay, maybe I'm a little more of a workaholic, but..) was that we both hung around home all day Saturday drawing and creating and being artsy. duuude. Love it. We went out on Saturday to a cute lil pub called The Irish Heather, sort of for my birthday...talked animation with a few boys, fun fun. =) On Sunday there's always the normal Sunday stuff to do, but we did get out for a walk in the sun to feed the ducks....very cool. I finished up a really cool project last night that I can't tell you all about yet, but I'm super-excited about it!! eeek! Anyways, this weekend was nice and low-key and fun...it was cool to get out of the house when the sun was about and it was happy happy!

In other cool news, Scrapmojo has a cute new look, and Rachel Denbow is our guest designer this go around, which totally rocks! The girl can rock the paper..and also the sewing machine. Go check out the challenge! It's to use trash and staples....all the girls rocked it, seriously....here's my take:
I was looking for a word this year, a la Ali and decided on "Rest". not stop completely. Just...step back. Don't overload myself this year. Only do what makes me happy and just...rest. =) I used a piece of cardboard, some paper scraps, the front cover of an awesome journal I got in town at Paper-Ya (which I looove and bought just so I could rip the cool notebook paper out of..lol) and some other Martha Stewart and Elle's Studio goodies, too. =) It's one of my faves I've made in a while....and it was inspired by this video that Z pointed out to me: Lollipop. Sorry if you don't like Mika, but the art direction and animation is pretty freakin cool! Love it =)
Also, I started doing a 30 day challenge with Holly....make an art page a day (she's also taking a picture of the day..but I can never stick to those...lol) based on a prompt to better embrace creating for yourself...pretty cool stuff. Here are my 30 words/prompts about myself:

1 - quiet (in public)
2 - quirky/silly/a total utter goof
3 - indie movie lover
4 - Capricorn
5 - new wife
6 - daughter
7 - older sister
8 - patience tester
9 - sticktoitiveness
10 - lover of words/writing/lovely quotes
11 - poetry reader
12 - messily organized
13 - non-domestic
14 - antiques/aged things
15 - bright colors
16 - chocolate fiend
17 - photographer wannabe
18 - learning as I go
19 - journals/art journals
20 - creating with my hands
21 - the ocean/water/beach
22 - I get over it quickly/accept
23 - I know what I want and I want it now.
24 - difficult/the love of "no" (my favorite word)
25 - chocolate martini/a resistance to beer
26 - secretly tattooed
27 - independent to a point
28 - wary of big groups/nervous
29 - puppies
30 - finish. My need to complete things at a certain time/all at once.
Yet the need to keep doing new things nd not completeing them.
They're kind of more then one-worded and all over the place..but I wrote them on a spur of the moment. =) ahh...art journalling. It is so cool to get messy. Here's the cover and the first page, about me being quiet until you get to know me:
I used distressed cards and such for the pages...just pieces I grabbed from on and around my desk...=) I was making an altered book, but it wasn't looking like it was ever going to get finished, so I ripped a chunk out with the quote "the job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery"...that I thought was perfect, because quiet=people don't know a lot about me at first-mystery. =) More to come (but probably not everyday...lol..I'll finish it eventually)
And last but not least, A cool album and necklace that Jessica sent me (how cool is that album?? oh my word...I was stunned when I got it!! Thanks Jess!)
And this is the uber-cool pirate card that Michelle got for me...eeek! It folds out and the ship is all 3-Dimensional..love it! It now lives in our living room. =) Thanks again, Michelle!
Whew...thanks for bearing with me today....lol...more to come tommorrow! Lots more!
Happy day =)

some peeks...

...Just made the blog rounds from the RAK comments...super-fun to discover new scrappy people...=) yay! What's new? Well...my lunchtime is almost over..work is nutty again (it's like that: Monday and Tuesday there's usually little to no work..and then all the calls for fixes come in Wednesday - Friday...crazy non-stop, but good busy) I had the most grumpiest of grumpy nights last night. Mostly because wrestling with my computer and scanner setting up and wacom pen settings, etc. were interfereing with possible sewing time. Argh. Dying to sew something. lol...There was this funny moment when I was all frustrated and Z and I were just standing there after I said something like "argh, the whole world is working against me tonight" and after the perfect movie silence length, a piece of masking tape came fluttering off the wall and hit the ground....and we both cracked up...ha ha. Like a movie, I swear...so tonight i'm hoping to make some goodies without any interruptions.

And it turns out taking pictures of my scrappy space in a dark room does not work..ha ha...silly me. So I'll answer the last of the questions with pictures on the weekend. =) Til then, here's the sneak of my Mojo page (it goes up on the 20th..and we have an awesome Guest designer!!)
And Holly M is doing a cool 30-day embrace making art for yourself dealio..which I thought was pretty sweet...it will probably take me 60 days to do..lol..but i haven't art journalled in forever, so it felt great to do again. Here's what I got last night: I'll post my 30 days' words and better pics tommorrow....
Til then....happy day! =) Hope everyone gets to make something yummy today...

Fun, fun....

First of all, thanks for all the sweet words in the comments, girls! Glad everyone stopped in and said hello...=) Loved the mention of Pixar's "Birds" short...=) he he...And Jessica totally cracked me up with this: ACK! The textures remind me of an old man...like it's a Grandpa Owl! he he...I made them with brown cord and this wierd old-man woven fabric from old-school Junkitz..so that totally made me giggle..lol. (By the way, got the package in the mail yesterday Jess, and you totally rock!! thank you soo much! I'll post a pic tommorrow...he he). Have to say thanks to Michelle, too for the coolest pirate card on the face of the earth!! eeek!! Thanks!
Anyways, got a lil off topic, there...The winner (by random scrolling and pointing):

Hi Michelle!
Your owls are so very cute & happy birthday (again).
From Kristy
Yay! So Kristy/Kaybell...e-mail me: michelle.a.clement@gmail.com with your address and I'll get the lil lovebird set out to you! =)

I really really wanna give you girls all something, but alas, I'm pretty much still, or at least soon to be, a starving artist...lol..=) So you have my mucho thanks for stopping by!!

And as for the questions you left....(thanks, by the way...=)...there are some cool questions!)

From Lovelymisskait
Do you have patterns that you follow?

...No! I just wing it. lol...well, when I made like 50 donuts, I made a pattern myself and used that. When I made the felt camera, I had to draw a sort-of dimensional diagram so I could figure out how the pieces should fit together and what I needed to cut out....And for things like the chickens, the birds, and the lil octopus guys...I just cut them and started sewing from scratch....usually there are mishaps and I have to trim or cut a new piece and waste some felt..but it's a good brain exercise, I guess...lol

From Christina C.
so, here is a question for you. how did you get your mad felt skills. Also, if you ever teach a class, please sign me up.
...he he...=) Thanks Christina! I actually haven't sewn much felt stuff ever....so I'm glad it looks like I got some skills...lol. My mom is a really big into sewing (she quilts, used to make our clothes when we were tiny, etc.) So she put me and my lil sis into sewing classes when we were like 7...and I kind of always loved it. I took Fashion class in highschool, and made things like tailored suitjackets and all that craziness. I've also made a few pretty simple quilts. I wanted to go into Fashion Illustration as a job for a long while....so I guess, the knowledge I gained over the years works with felt goodies, too! =)

From Momma Twitch
You are way good with all that felt. How long have you been making stuff like that?
...I think I just answered this one up there..he he. I've been sewing since maybe 7 years old til 18? And here and there since then...like pillows and things for my apartment...he he.

From Jenni Haywood
My question is... Do you have a favorite blog or scrapper that you look at all the time that gives you mucho inspiration?

Oooh..there are so many inspiring blogs and scrappers out there. I'll list a couple that I've always loved/really love right now:
Elsie Flannigan (he he...Also love her taste in films)
Erikia Ghumm (she's one of my fave scrappers ever!)

...and all my bloggy buddies, of course =) but there are truly too many to list...=) I love when someone has their own style and sticks to it....and I love blog surfing and finding more and more inspiring artists...

From Ask P/Amy
Are you going to have some DOH-nuts on your ETSY site?
I hope so! It's a matter of when I'll have time to make some, right now...lol..super-busy. I'm also hoping to design some paper tags in the near future. And, of course, other lil felt creatures. And felt cameras, too! i just have to rework the design away from Bam Pop's a lil...=)

From Cobb809/Jenn
I just have one question...the journaling on you layouts...is it stamped, a font, handwritten, or rub ons. I love it.
Almost all my journalling is done using individually wood-mounted stamps. Mostly Hero Arts, but also Image Tree by EK and a few randoms. I think I have like 6 or 7 sets of the lil guys now. =) I love em!

Annnd....I'm gonna answer these babies tommorrow. =) Cuz i just cleaned my scrap space and it's the perfect excuse to take a picture...and I also just made a page that was inadvertantly inspired by a music video...he he:

From Nichole
I have a question for you-how do you decide what you're going use on a page? do you let it just come to you (pick whatever you want) or just go with it?! you seem to have so many fun goodies..I would get overwhelmed!

From Micayla
.....Where do you get your inspo' from for scrapping?

And some pictures Z took over the weekend for good measure. (What's a picture-less blog post, anyway??) lol...Needed some Tatt shots for a special project..he he. That lil skull I drew about a year ago...it's my fave, most secret tattoo...
Work is nutty. Back to it I go...like 7 Pucca episodes are due today....lol....and I have the help-everyone-and-juggle-all-shows job...ahhh! =) Thanks goodness for Kimya and The Moldy Peaches! And I'm super-excited to check out all the new blogs from the comments yesterday...yay! Thanks again, guys =)

duh dun nah nah....

.....whew! Day 12 of the 12 days of crafts, man. And I have officially posted all the stuffs I made for presents and such over the holidays. =) Looks like I was busy, huh? In fact...I haven't made anything in....um, a week? And I'm dying over here! Gotta make something tonight or I may go nutty....

So...I made these 2 lil love birdies before the holiday and then had made too much and now they are lonely! They need a good home. =) So all you gotta do is leave a comment. Or a question for me. Or whatever. =) If you've been lurking, say hi so I can go check out your blog!! But I'm picking a winner tommorrow...so you only have today and tonight to post!I like em =) They're fraying and beautifully imperfect...he he. I loved the shot of the feet:
Last night we had chocolatey chocolate cake with chocolate icing for supper (yum!) and then went out to the movie. Oh. my. god. When I was 16, I so wished I was as sarcastically witty as Juno. I still do, but seriously. She rocked my world. The movie may be one of my most favorite ones ever!! And the new haircut:
The mirror did a weird double thing on the last shot, but I like it....And I took them cuz all of Z's pictures ended up like this:Which I happen to love. The blurriness. The composition. Weird, I know..I always like the shots most people would throw away....lol...
And I so wish my Etsy shop is ready to launch today..but alas, it's not. stay tuned! Maybe by the weekend...I have a few deadlines to finish up before i get to it. Also have some cool pictures to post that Z took of the tatts over the weekend...

Anyways, don't forget to say hi to win some birdies!
Happy day =)

Day 11 and my Berfday!

*Edit* - Duuude...thank you guys so much for all the sweet words! I totally read all the comments, and thank you thank you...but then I accidently hit "reject" instead of "publish" on a group of like 4 of them...argh...lol...so sorry if yours got deleted accidently...silly moderating...!!And what did I make everyone else for Christmas, you ask? (I've been saving this craft for nearly last because it's my most favorite thing(s) that I made):Felt Donuts! You name the type, I made it.
Regular donuts:

Iced donuts:
Mini sparkly donuts:
Sparkly iced donuts:

.......he he...they were super-fun to make....and I got a lil crazy with the glitter glue and puff paint. =) I gave these to my friends for christmas, wrapped them in little brown paper lunch bags tied with ribbon....I figured they'd be cute ornaments. Or just, ya know...cute. =)
I love em. =) They were inspired by the Red Velvet Girls...Silje did a tutorial a while back and I did my own lil spin on it. fun, fun! So my 12 days is nearly at an end....whew! I'm all out of crafts to post...lol..So stay tuned: tommorrow I'll be having posting pics of the last craft and then I'll be RAK-ing it away. =)

And it's my berfday today!! eeek! I'm the big 2-3. Not really big at all...he he. I don't feel any older, so it's all good...lol....And I'm soooo excited to see Juno tonight!! My gosh...so excited!!

Happy day, everyone! =)

12 Days of Christmas Crafts: Days 9 & 10

Day 9: Another chicken...to go with the pink one =) he he...made this guy with the same Junkitz fabric and felt. He was pretty fun to make...he he
Day 10: A few odds and ends....These are the albums I made for our parents (both mine and Z's) for Christmas...
...since both of our parents didn't (couldn't...cuz we're a lil spontaneous that way) come for the wedding, and we got the pictures back right before Christmas...I wanted to make them each a little memento album =) Z's parents finally got the box in the mail!! yay!! (So happy you liked everything, guys!!) And also, thank you, Volia and Todor for the lovely card for my birthday =)

(which is tommorrow...he he)

And this is how I wrapped all of my gifts this year: brown paper (sometimes brown paper bags)and ribbon from my stash. I seriously have a ton of it, so I thought...why not use it? It looks cute! Same with the labels..I'd bought them at my favorite Granille Island paper store a while back and they did the trick =) Quite simple...

...and where did that weekend go? We watched "Black Snake Moan" on Friday night......I'd wanted to see it for a while and it was awesome...lotsa Blues music and Christina Ricci is awesome. It's totally not what you'd expect. =) Annnd....I cleaned the house from top to bottom yesterday and am now feeling fab and fresh for the new year...with the exception of the giant pile of papers to sort and go through and do banking with, etc. blech. Today I took a trip to Micheal's to stock up on felt and goodies....(well, not really...just got a few lil things) and I didn't get to making all the stuff I have to make, in fact, I didn't make anything this weekend except breakfast this morning and some lunch...(and some cinnamon buns...yum!) which I'm sad about...=( But it's all good...there's always next weekend, I guess!

Still not feeling the best...my silly throat is hurting and I'm drinking tea and eating garlic like a maniac....lol...tommorrow I'm getting a haircut after work so I feel all awesome and pretty, and then Z and I are going to see Juno...cuz, well..it's my birthday and I'm dying to see it! Also, we're going out for Italian on Tuesday, too....but it won't be too late. =) happy night!

12 Days of Crafts: Day 8

Today....a craft that Z (who is now Uncle Z to lil man Damien) made for Christmas: A stuffed dinosaur =) We totally forgot to take a picture of it..but you can kind of see it below: It was seriously super-cool...=) And D-man played made him play with the octopus and roar right away...he he. And how cool is it that my guy is so creative?? (sigh) he he...
And I'll throw this one in cuz my lil nephew is just soooo cute =) He's turning 3 next week! =)
....and...I'm doing the Overlooked challenge!! woot! I had this brilliant idea last night to do my pages for the challenge completely digi..keep them all digi 8.5 x 11...and then it's easy to keep up..and then it's also making me learn digi....I was finding all sorts of lovely, cool, free digi stuff last night and am actually sorta excited to dig into that =) Never done any digi scrapping before....should be interesting....also...tons of cool photos in the flickr group already for the first challenge, "your mug". Here's my mug...
Oh yes. Spongebob guards it. Because the cleaning people like to steal the mug and leave it on another floor of the building. Sometimes they steal it anyways, even when Spongebob is there. I have a few spongebobs. It's an animation studio, after all. If you don't have some funny cartoon toy by your desk, something is wrong....;) It's quite the dark picture, cuz all the windows are closed up here, for the computers + sunlight kinda hurt the eyes. =) Also, note Spongebob's coffee stained hand. lol..just noticed that....

Anyways, I got the Juno soundtrack and am loving the Moldy Peaches song. yum! Must change the song on the blog, too...it's been up for a bit. Today at work we get to watch 3 finished (but not yet aired) episodes...woot! super-cool...=) then I'm buying a scanner, and maybe a dvd player (it keeps bumming out and skipping for Z) with some found christmas money (thanks mom and wayne - we hadn't spent it yet!!) and lounging at home with pizza and a movie..yay! I'm warding off a cold now, which I feel like I got from my blog buddies, cuz no one here is sick, but everyone who's blog I check seems to be...lol...funny. anyways....happy day, everyone! Thanks again for the sweet comments...=) you guys rock!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts:Day 7

......I (heart) this chicken...=) (I hope the person who's getting it also likes it..he he) I stitched it using some Junkitz fabric I've had forever, I think I like it so much that I was saving it..he he...and, of course, felt. I was thinkig the other day that pirate chickens would be pretty cool...lol...
I have so so many ideas whirling in my head for my etsy that I don't even know where to start!!...lol...I have visions of whales and prints and tags. I am now obsessed with the idea of getting a scanner..which I've wanted for a while, and which will make it waaaay easier for me to design things I want to design...because I'm a stickler for clean lines, and I can do that waaaay easier using a pencil and not my trusty wacom pen. At work, I draw with the line tool in Flash, so it's how I've been doing things now..but it seems insanely slow compared to my drawing speed!! Anyways, gonna get a scanner. Using the birthday as an excuse..he he...so fun. There needs to be more time in a day, doesn't there?? I'm dying to sew some things...must make a trip to Michaels this weekend and stock up on supplies!
oh, and check this out!! (click "number one") I was super excited last night when I saw the post he he....yay! I had so much fun making that page, it's not even funny...Still thinking about my word for this year....hmm. Also still contemplating Overlooked...don't wanna jump in if I don't think I can commit to it, ya know? silly, yes. Maybe I'll digi scrap them or something...hmm.
Anyways, happy day!!
Thank you guys so much for all the cute comments yesterday!! Made me smile this morning..he he =)

12 Days of Christmas Crafts: Day 6

...whew! halfway through my 12 days and I'm doing repeats...lol....Another octopus, I know..I know. I'm waiting for Z's parents to get their package before I totally spoil it and post their goodies...lol....It takes so long for mail from Canada to get to the states!! argh! lol...But he's cute, even though he's the same octopus as yesterday...=) Z says he kinda looks like a guy walking, cuz his tentacles are leggish...he he
..new things tommorrow!! =) Last night I got to draw some stuffs....;) Which was fun, cuz I haven't actually had time to sit down and do anything on paper since I was in France (like, July?) lol...speaking of, I was cleaning out my computer (trying to catch up on my new years' organizing...) and found some drawings I did while there that I'll post soon..my art blog is getting stale...lol...
...I'm eating some triscuits...it's lunch =) I'm also working on some paper goodies for etsy (they'll get in there eventually...) and i have tons oh tons of work today, and a giant to-do list, too...eek! I haven't got around to cleaning to start my new year off right, and now I have deadlines coming up and feel like I can't finish anything or work until I clean my space....(sigh)...weird, I know...
...Tzanko and I are obsessed with this game called Blockus (Mandy gave it to us for Christmas...thanks girl!! we love it =)...) and play it every night...fun, fun. I'm dying to see Juno...dying!! We're gonna go for my birthday, which is next week....yay!!
Anyways, that's all today...fresh stuff tommorrow, I promise....happy day!!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts: Day 5

.....and this, my friends....was what I gave to my lil nephew for Christmas: do boys like octopus? Well...he grabbed it immediatley and started to play with it and the awesome dinosaur (talk about blowing me outta the water...!!) that Z made for him...(I don't have a picture of it..so sad!)

I think it's kinda cute...he he

....in other news, watched Apocalypto the other night...anyone seen it? It was pretty awesome, even though we didn't have the subtitles (the whole thing is in modern Yukatan (spelling?) ...but I thought the words would've been distracting, anyways)...lotsa action..really, really cool art direction on the royalty and such. Cool...

...Also, in the process of opening an etsy shop. I've been on the fence for a while; looking into costs and shipping and networking oppurtunities....It will start teeny..and maybe, who knows..stay teeny...lol...=) We'll see how it goes. It should be up soon, anyway....=) You can expect sewing and I'm in the works of designing a few paper tags to go in there...fun, fun...

....I just can't seem to keep myself un-busy. Z and I should probably go out more...we're kinda homebodies lately: but it's so grey and yucky outside now...I can't wait for spring, cuz then we can go otu and enjoy the city....I find it impossibly hard to just sit at home and do nothing...in fact, I can't...even when I hang in fron of the tv I'm making something...it's kind of a curse...lol
...I got to play with the Dozens' some more on the weekend (these are my resolutions..they're hiding behind the photos):
...and this is an Ali-inspired canvas to go close to my scrap area, the quote says: "Dont's think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things, You simply must do." It about epitomizes the way I create stuff...And ironically, the first go at this canvas I made was overthought and horrible, so I ripped off all the letters and put down a fresh coat of paint and started again...ha ha....=)

Happy day to everyone!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts - Day 4

...and now....for your viewing pleasure......Day 4:

I made these guys the same way I made the ornaments I posted yesterday: I used a Fancy Pants creative card (these little guys rock...I love them to journal, too...) , stitched and painted the card..adhered the felt pieces and ribbon hanger on top...added some glitter glue. My mom and Wayne got these lil dudes for Christmas for their tree. =) My apologies to those of you who've seen these at sis already...new stuff coming tommorrow!! yay!

And also, the latest Scrapmojo challenge is up!

...it's not my favorite page ever, but what can you do, hey? They're not all fabulous. at film school, there was this saying that you have to make 10,000 bad drawings before all of them are good...and I think it must be true for all art: you experiment, you try, you have your off days. =)

i am super-tempted to try Ashley Wren's fab challenges: Overlooked. eeek! But I have so much on my plate, I'm not sure if I should....argh, all these cool challenges and such...lol....

I am also super-excited at how great art-wise the new year is turning out to be already: got some commissions, I get to dip into freelance work, make some felt goodies, and there are also some super-secret scrap projects that I can't yet tell you about that are rockin my world...=) yay! If this is a sign of the year to come, I'm psyched! =) Hope everyone is great today! even though it's back to the daily grind...I wish weekends were 5 times longer than they are...(sigh) must do all the things I neglected to do this weekend tonight: clean, laundry, groceries...blah! Happy day, anyway...=)

12 Days of Christmas Crafts: Day 3

*taken down for publication*

....these were some of my fave ornaments I made this year...=) Love em, love em..I made them using Fancy Pants yummies: The "alpha antiquities" creative cards as the base...some felt pieces..of course, I stamped and stitched, too..can't help it! I added some glitter glue onto the edges of the felt shapes, too..love glitter glue! I lied - I also posted these on sis already (I said these 12 Days would be fresh new stuff...and then realized that the majority of stuff was DT and so has been posted at Sis already...ha ha!) So i'll see what new things I can do to keep this fresh...=) thanks for peeking, anyways!

How's everyone's weekends going? Good? they always fly by so fast...I haven't dine any of the new year, organizing/cleaning things I feel i should have done...but I did make an awesome broccoli/rice/chicken dinner last night, and got to play more with the Dozens' amazing kit yesterday and this morning...it's grey and miserable outside...and Z has work to do: I love when we're both busy creating right beside eachother...makes me happy!! Anyways, happy night!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts: Day Two

...Thanks for all of the cute comments on the camera! =) If you seriously want one, e-mail me...I may have to alter the design a little bit (cuz, well...it's pretty much Bam pop's design..) and we can discuss price and things...Now, Day two! I already posted these at Sistv...(cuz, you know..Fancy Pants) but it's a Saturday, and I want to go create some stuff:
I made these ornaments out of styrofoam balls...I ripped out old book pages and gave them a wash of watercolor paint to turn them pink. Waited for them to dry, tore them into pieces, and mod-podged them to cover the ball. I then gave the ball a coat of glitter glue...wrapped ribbon around and held it in place at the top with a stick pin....and added some FP felt pieces and snowflake shapes on top. =) I made a bunch for my girl Mandy for Christmas...she's a snowflake fan...=) They were super-fun to make! =) What are you up to this Saturday? Z and I are just hangin at home....he's drawing...I have a list of e-mails to answer and desks to organize and cleaning to do, but instead, I might go play with some scrapbook goodies...yay! Love weekends...Oh! And I saw Napoleon Dynamite yesterday, finally...and I have to say: I'm not a big fan...too slow-paced for me..and I was so majorly confused about what time era the movie is supposed to be set in...cuz there was everything from 70's leftovers to bad '80's to 'cool' 90's wear and it was distracting me....lol...I did laugh out loud at some parts....and I (heart) Pedro's wig...lol...

anyways, Happy day!

12 Days of Crafts - Day One

So I had soooo many pictures of projects I made as Christmas gifts this year that I thought it would be cute to have a little "12 Days of.." with all the goodies I made! (even though Christmas is over...cuz these babies haven't been posted yet). There will be a little RAK at the end, too (cuz I made a wee bit too much) he he...it's like a bloggin marathon!

(Thanks for the inspo Holly - I loved your Christmas countdown..I guess this is my version...)
Here's the first installment!
...This is the polaroid camera I made for Michelle for Christmas...It was the most fun to make! It has a working strap and a few little polaroids to go along with it =) Please excuse that garish glare in the pictures: I had to snap them quick before my little brother adopted the camera. Speaking of, he demonstrates below:
..he he...=) He loved it. And I was super-happy that he recognized it as a camera and knew where the pictures came from..what a smarty pants...=)

My inspiration was the fab Bam Pop limited addition stamp I saw at Red Velvet:
...that's enough for today! Stay tuned for tommorrow...

New year, new look.

A slight change around here. A clean change. I haven't had a chance to clean my house or my closet or my computer, so at least one aspect feels like it has a "fresh start" for the new year. ;)

I resolve....

...I say "I resolve" because calling resolutions resolutions never seems to work, ya know? I kind of gave up on even giving myself resolutions, because when I was younger it was always "eat less chocolate" and there's no way that worked...ha ha...so I say now I give myself attainable, not totally crazy off-the-wall goals so that I can feel good at the end of the year and not like an overwhelmed bum....I made this lil page (which I am super, super in love with...) last night using The Dozens' amazing kit from last month!! eek! Dana totally rocks my world with those yummy kits....Also, super excited about some news at Sis Tv....!!

Anyways, there's a whole lotta crazy journalling on the back of those red cards on my layout, and I pretty much realized how far I'd come in a year, and that I can only hope to continue to evolve and grow as I have last year in oh eight.

And tick off some attainable goals in the meantime, so this year:

- I would love to take a photography class...or at least look some goodies up online and learn more about composition, editing, etc. Basic stuff. And also, learn more about my camera.

- I would looove to finish up little scrapbooks for both Mexico and France. Or they will never get done!

- I would like to send out all Christmas presents for next year in the mail before boxing day..ha ha

- Live healthier (I am already aching all over from my am run yesterday morning...and am drinking loads of water...like I should already be doing) I don't want to diet, persay...I just want to be able to run for a block and not be winded, ya know?

- To not take on more than I can handle, design-work wise.

- To help Z with the kitchen stuff more. (Did dishes last night, thank ya. Poor Z, spoils me...) I do cook once in a while, but I am the worst at doing dishes!! And I need to make time to cook more....

And that's it, for now. =) Easy peasy, right? I'm all for the working out thing...I have been meaning to since I graduated in, what, February? I love the energy it gives me, and my skin gets healthier, and it's just all-around good to feel healthy....

I have a ton of stuff to post (including a cool felt polaroid camera that I made for Michelle...he he) but it's turning out to be a busier lunch hour than I thought...starting tommorrow!!

Anyways, Happy day!! May all your new years' wishes come true =)

...and a happy new year to you!

.....Hope everyone had a fabulous new years! I was sorta MIA, understandably, over the holidays....we flew back from Calgary on the 31st in the morning and I'm trying to catch up and get back in the swing of things! Thanks for all the sweet christmas wishes! Hope everyone had an awesome holiday and a great night last night! All the bestest in the new year....=)
Spending Christmas at home with the parents was wonderful....=) My little brother and nephew are soooo cute! (my lil brother just turned 6 and my nephew is almost 3 - so fun!) And my parents spoiled us rotten with all the yummy food and wine and turkey...yum! Boxing day was also fabulous...I always say it's 'my christmas' cuz I get to spoil myself a little....=) he he...I didn't take many pictures, cuz I always like to just enjoy the present opening and the happy smiles and all the holiday goings-on....but my mom took a few that I'll share soon! It was the best holiday! (Thanks Mom and Wayne...you guys are the bestest!)

I got to hang out with my girls, too...we went bowling and my 9-month pregnant friend Melissa totally whooped us all on the lanes...she rocked the bowling! Also, I got to test out a bridesmaid dress and spend time with the grandmas, and..(sigh) it went by so fast! I came down with a yucky 24 hour stomach flu on one of the last days there....like, so sick I haven't been that sick in years....!! Took me a while to get water to stay in my stomach, needless to say...and I barely ate for a day and some and all of my chest and back muscles were strained...and thankgod that Z didn't get it...but now we're both sort of dizzy and sore-throated, so we're sleeping lots and warding off this new cold!! eek!

Last night for a rockin new years, we totally pulled out the old-married-couple card and stayed home....our flight left Calgary at 9 in the morning and it was a looong day....so we had some pear cider and chinese and I made magical throat-fixing tea, while in indie movie heaven:
.....and it was a fab night full of naps and lounging and "hey, that's Vancouver!" (Everything's Gone Green was filmed here...) Awesome =) Molly Shannon totally rocked "Year of the Dog"...she's so cute! And Carrie Ann Moss in "Fido" was wicked, totally cool, bright 50's style clothes and sets: love the yellow house....want it! And zombies as house pets? You gotta check it out....

Anyways, I must unpack and get ready for the daily grind, which begins again tommorrow....So I leave you with a layout I did using Fancy Pants Designs goodies in December.......it's been a super-chill day here at home: slept in...made my Z some tea (we're both kind of fighting of some sore-throatness, him more than me....Had a loooong soothing bath, made myself my guilty pleasure pasta with cheese melted on it for supper, as Z is out talking logo business for a few hours....just about to unpack now that I'm caught up on some calls and uploads. More to post soon!! I promise ;) Also, some fun crafty stuff coming for weeks and weeks...lol...(remember those christmas projects I promised I'd post? they're coming!) All the best! I'll stop by your blogs soon to say hullo....
